Material Handling Network (MHN) Privacy Policy (revised: July 31, 2018).
(MHN) is a web site owned and operated by WoodwardBizMedia, 801 Bluff St., Dubuque, IA 52001. MHN has adopted a set of information management guidelines which serve as the basis for our customer and advertiser relationships on our web sites. These guidelines have been developed to comply with the law on data protection and your rights for the purposes of data protection. Accordingly, guidelines are subject to change. Any such changes will be posted on this page. If the changes represent a material departure from our current practices with respect to the use of personal information, the changes will be posted on this page thirty days prior to taking effect and registered users will be notified via e-mail. MHN is not responsible for the content or the privacy policies of web sites to which we may link.
What information does MHN gather/track about you?
Under the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) personal data means any direct or indirect identifiable information about an individual from which a person can be identified. We collect, use, store, and transfer different kinds of personal data about you, as described below:
Identity data includes first name, last name, username or similar identifier.
Contact data includes billing address, delivery address, email address and telephone numbers.
Financial data includes bank account and payment card details.
Transaction data includes details about payment to and from you and other details of services you have purchased from us.

Where do we collect information from?
Direct interactions: You may provide your identity, contact and financial data by filling in forms, corresponding with us by mail, email, phone or other. This includes personal information when interacting with us as follows:
Registration: During free or paid registration for live or online events, training events, webinars, subscriptions, contests, surveys or any other product, services or special offerings where registration is deemed necessary.
IP Addresses: MHN logs IP addresses, or the location of your computer on the Internet, for systems administration and troubleshooting purposes.
Cookies: Small pieces of information that a website transfers to your computer for record-keeping purposes (such as retaining login account information).

What does MHN do with the information it gathers/tracks?
- Register you as a new member.
- Register you as an applicant to MHN’s certification program.
- Register you as a visitor/guest at one of our events.
- To process and deliver your order including to manage payments, fees and changes, collect and recover money owed to MHN.
- Register you as a subscriber to our services.
To manage our relationship with you which may include:
- To send out MHN press releases, communications, and updates.
- To deliver relevant website content and information to you and measure the effectiveness of this information.
- To use data analytics to improve website, products/services, marketing, customer relationships and experiences.
- To complete a survey and/or leave a review.
- Notify you of changes to events, their dates/times, logistics, or related services.
- Notify you of special offers or promotions from MHN or its partners.
Statistical Analysis and Banner Advertising: MHN may perform statistical analyses of user behavior in order to measure interest in the various areas of our web site (for product development purposes) and to inform advertisers as to how many readers have seen or “clicked” their advertising banners. MHN also uses demographic and preference information to allow advertising banners on our web site to be targeted, in aggregate, to the readers for whom they are most pertinent. This means that readers see advertising that is most likely to interest them, and advertisers send their messages to people who are most likely to be receptive. With whom does MHN share the information it gathers/tracks?
MHN shares the information it gathers, in aggregate form, with advertisers and other partners.
Webinar registration information (identity and contact) will be shared with the sponsor of said webinar, should there be one.
Event registration information (identity and contact) will be share with sponsors of said event.
We may pass your personal data on to third-party service providers contracted with MHN in the course of dealing with you.
Other companies in the WBM group who may be acting as joint controllers or processors and/or provide IT and system administration services and internal reporting activities.
Service providers who provide IT systems, customer management systems, visitor registration systems, event management systems and administration services and who will process your data in accordance with the terms of data processing agreements with them. This includes providers such as: Content Shelf, MailChimp, Survey Monkey, Magazine Manager, TownNews, Eventbrite, Authorize.net, Google (et al), GoToWebinar, GoToMeeting, Constant Contact, Email on Acid, and more.
We may share your information, if we are required to do so, with law enforcement agencies, public authorities or other organizations, or if we have a good faith belief that such use is reasonable necessary to:
Comply with a legal obligation, process or request; enforce our terms and conditions and other agreements, including investigation of any potential violation thereof detect, prevent or otherwise address security, fraud or technical issues, or protect the rights, property or safety of us, our users, a third party or public as require or permitted by law.

Opting-Out, Corrections and Cancellations
Upon request, MHN will a) Remove you and your personal information, from our active registration database, thereby terminating your registration (please note that we may retain certain information associated with your account for analytical purposes as well as for recordkeeping integrity); b) Correct personal information that you state is erroneous; or c) Permit you to “opt out” of further e-mail contact (excepting notification of major changes to the service) while still allowing access to the site.
