I.D. Systems: Industry Pioneers for 25 Years and Counting

Founded in 1993 by two Stanford University engineers, I.D. Systems pioneered the use of wireless technology to track, control, and manage high-value mobile assets – like forklifts, cargo trailers and connected cars. Our technologies control, track, analyze, and optimize hundreds of thousands of these assets all over the world. We help organizations be safer, improve efficiency, and cut costs. With patented systems and ground-breaking solutions for customers like Avis, Ford Motor Company, and the U.S. Postal Service, we went public in 1999, and have been a leader in our field ever since.
Today, we focus on three business-to-business (B2B) markets for our machine-to-machine (M2M) technology:
Managing fleets of forklifts and other industrial trucks to improve safety, productivity, and cost-efficiency;
Tracking fleets of trailers, containers, chassis, and other freight transportation assets to provide greater asset visibility, utilization, and profitability across supply chains;
Controlling “connected cars,” to enable a new generation of commercial vehicle applications, like automated remote car rentals.
We use the Industrial Internet of Things (IoT) – a blend of wireless hardware, cloud-based software (SaaS), and “big data- analytics” to give our customers unique insights into their high-value mobile assets. With this power of visibility and control, our customers improve safety compliance, reduce overhead costs, streamline operations, and increase profits.
We are proud to include among our customers many of the world’s largest auto makers, consumer packaged goods companies, food producers, industrial manufacturers, retailers, airlines, car rental companies, and government agencies. But we serve customers of all types and sizes. All told, our solutions control, track, analyze, and optimize hundreds of thousands of critical business assets all over the world.
Our success speaks not only to our technological skill and product quality, but also to our personal connections and dedicated customer service. We love what we do, and we do it well.
This year, I.D. Systems combined the operations of its existing Vehicle Management Systems (VMS) division with the recent successful acquisition of Keytroller, LLC. This new business unit operates as I.D. Systems PowerFleet™ division that focuses on the delivery of world-class Industrial Truck Management Systems (ITMS). Building on the DNA of success created by Terry Wickman, founder of Keytroller, this new division combines the strategic account prowess from the VMS division to create a holistic offering for the market.
Chris Wolfe, I.D. Systems CEO explained: “the acquisition of Keytroller in 2017 provided I.D. Systems with a broader portfolio of products that allows us to service every customer, large and small. To ensure continued success and growth, it was logical to bring our VMS and Keytroller™ teams together. This allows I.D. Systems to create a seamless sales, marketing, engineering and support group to better serve our customers, partners and employees.”
