Cimcorp Layer Pick

Cimcorp’s Layer Pick solution combines large, fast gantry robots with a clamp gripper and vacuum picking head for order picking. Using varying force and vacuum strength based on the SKU to be handled, the system can pick virtually any consumer product on the market.

With the Layer Pick system, companies can access a large volume of inventory using a single machine, and create customer orders in any sequence desired. By staging all SKUs directly inside the robotic cell, customer order pallets can be built in any sequence at any time. A unique aspect of the solution is its ability to pick up one layer, multiple layers, and even entire pallet loads of product to build rainbow pallets. Once orders are complete, pallets are shrink wrapped, labelled and then transported to the dock or loaded directly into a trailer.

Application areas

The Layer Pick system is currently used for large distribution centers in consumer goods and the food and beverage industry, and can be applied in any distribution center shipping volume in layer quantities. It is ideal for facilities that pick more than 1,000 layers per day from 50-500 SKUs.

Health and beauty leader L’Oraal U.S.A. currently uses Cimcorp’s Layer Pick system in its Walton, Kentucky warehouse to handle 1 million cases and replenish 6,000 pallets per month. By automating a once manual operation, L’Oraal now has more efficient and consistent end-to-end material flow, as well as 100-percent order accuracy and traceability.
