Save Space – Choose Lead

Lead weights provide a real space savings compared to those manufactured of other mediums. Thanks to its extreme density, lead is approximately 45% heavier by volume than steel and more than 4.5 times heavier by volume than cured concrete. In addition, lead is also a non-ferrous metal so you don’t have to contend with rusting issues associated with cast iron, steel or steel punchings.

Reducing the size of your forklift counterweight can offer significant marketing benefits to your product by providing better visibility to an operator when backing up and a tighter turning radius by reducing rear end swing.

When in need of test weights, various individual weights can be designed to achieve the desired weight build requirements by stacking or nesting various weight combinations that will enable you to test all lifting devices in a given facility.

We offer:

Customization: Our test weights can be made in many configurations: stackable, modular, or individual. They can also be designed to be picked up by crane hooks and/or by forklifts.

Fabrication: When required, we can fabricate steel canisters or containers, fill them with lead to desired weight, cap the pour holes, and prepare the fabrication for painting. We also provide painting services. From design through fabrication to paint, we can supply a finished product to meet your needs.

Let Mars Metal use our 35 years of design and manufacturing experience and expertise to fulfill your next counterweight or test weight requirement. Call us today at 1-800-381-5335 or visit to learn more.
