One of the largest manufacturers of medium and large transformers required an application designed coil handling upender. The coil of steel is loaded and tilted 90 degrees to begin the de-coiling procedure. Pentalift designed and manufactured a 60,000 lb capacity hydraulic upender to facilitate this process. Both platforms are 8’ wide, 16’ long. To accommodate height restrictions during transportation one of the platforms was built in 2 pieces with on-site final assembly required. Counter balanced valves are hard plumbed to the double acting cylinders to further ensure safety by preventing load runaway when tilting or hydraulic hose failure. The complete system is PLC controlled.
