Orion Energy Systems Inc. (NYSE Amex: OESX) and Road America today unveiled the Orion Tech Center - a 13-bay garage that incorporates the energy management company's energy-efficient, integrated lighting system.

The state-of-the-art integrated system includes Orion's high-intensity fluorescent lighting platform, intelligent wireless control system and direct renewable Apollo solar light pipes, which harvest daylight and focuses it to the floor using no electricity during peak hours when electricity is in most demand and often most expensive.

The facility, in the main paddock area of Road America, was unveiled as part of a ribbon-cutting event attended by race fans; track and Orion officials; and government representatives including Congressman Tom Petri (R), 6th Congressional District, Representative Ted Zigmunt (D), 2nd Assembly District, Representative James Soletski (D) 88th Assembly District, Representative Steve Kestell (R), 27th Assembly District, and Senator Joseph Leibham (R), 9th Senate District.

The garage bays will be available for race teams to rent during events.

"The integrated system deployed in this facility will not only save Road America a significant amount of money in lighting-related energy costs, but will provide the substantial light needed to work on intricate race engines," said Orion CEO Neal Verfuerth. "And, the facility is helping Road America bring green technologies to the track - reducing their energy costs and reducing their carbon footprint. These are the same technologies that are allowing companies nationwide to save a collective $856 million in energy costs and displace more than 11 billion kilowatt-hours, which has a significant impact on the environment and the economy."

"The Tech Center uses Orion's innovative lighting space completely without electricity for 8-12 hours a day.

Jeremy Burne, American Director of TTXGP Limited (electric race bikes) commented, "We are delighted to be the first tenants in this wonderful building. We hope Orion can do this (technology install) at other tracks because it would be an ideal spot for our teams anywhere we go racing." Road America is the fastest permanent road racing circuit in the world. The track, situated on 640 natural acres of rolling hills in Wisconsin's Kettle Morraine, is 4.048-miles in length with 14 turns. The track maintains its original configuration since opening in 1955.

In 2000, an independent economic survey showed that Road America brings to Sheboygan County and the state of Wisconsin approximately $70 million every year. The track entertains more than 700,000 tourists from April to October annually.

For more than 50 years, Road America has helped hundreds of local and Midwest charities through donations and fundraising opportunities.
