Oorja Protonics to Replace LPC’s Propane Forklifts with Electric Forklifts retrofitted with Methanol-Fuel Cell as On-board Battery Chargers

Thursday, May 14, 2009

FREMONT, CA — Oorja Protonics (Oorja), an industry leader in Methanol-based Fuel Cells for forklift applications, today announced that it has received a Purchase Order from Lodi, CA based LPC for installing OorjaPac™ systems on its fleet of electric forklifts. These electric forklifts have been purchased recently by LPC to replace its entire Propane-based forklifts.

Phil Loduca, Vice-President of Sales at Oorja said, “This solidifies LPC’s commitment towards embracing an environmentally benign solution for their material handling fleet and shows them as pioneering the “Green Wave”. We are very excited about the potential of working with an industry leader such as LPC.

Mike McWeeney, Vice President at LPC, remarked, “We have diligently explored various types of fuel cells for our material handling needs over the last 1 year since we made the decision to transition to battery-powered forklifts. Our decision to consider fuel cells was based on the green benefits as well as an attractive payback. Oorja’s use of methanol fuel for the OorjaPac and its various benefits over competing fuel cell technologies really impressed us. We see this as an initial start to a longer-term alliance”.
