Northeast Ohio SteelDay 2011 Celebrates Steel Industry Accomplishments

Lincoln Electric and American Punch Will Feature Steel Industry-Focused Presentations, Demonstrations and Tours at Cleveland Locations

Cleveland– Lincoln Electric Automation will host a SteelDay event at the company’s Automation Center of Excellence on Sept. 23 from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. This year’s agenda will include presentations, demonstrations, a facility tour and lunch at the Automation Center at 22221 St. Clair Ave., Euclid, Ohio.

Special guest, Dr. Omer Blodgett, will be available to sign his book, Design of Welded Structures and Design of Weldments. Dr. Duane Miller, a recognized authority on the design of welded connections, will present "It Just Ain't So: Ten Welding Myths the Structural Engineer Needs to Know About."

A representative from ArcelorMittal, the world's leading steel company, also will make a presentation during the event. Other SteelDay 2011 presentations and demonstrations at the Lincoln Electric facility will include:

  • Latest in welding and cutting technology
  • Weld fume removal
  • Welding training solutions
  • Tour of the Automation Center of Excellence

(Note: closed-toe shoes and long pants are required for tours.)

In addition to the special events at Lincoln Electric’s Automation Center, another Northeast Ohio company, American Punch, will host a SteelDay open house on the same day at 1655 Century Corners Parkway, also in Euclid.

The open house will include a facility tour, demonstrations on the punching process, as well as information about the tooling manufactured by American Punch for the structural steel industry. Pete Burnside, business development representative for the Ohio Structural Steel Association, will discuss the numerous fields associated with the steel fabrication industry. The American Punch open house will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. A light lunch will be provided.
