Mobile...Innovative Solutions for Material HandlingThursday, November 1, 2007

For the past 50 years, Mobile has been manufacturing and distributing material handling products worldwide. Established in 1959, Mobile was the first Canadian manufacturer of pallet trucks and stackers in Canada. They now distribute products to North America, Latin America, Europe and Southeast Asia.
Steve Guagliano, president of this international company, is proud to say that Mobile, in addition to its North American manufacturing facilities, developed a government recognized and registered joint venture production program, one of the few in our industry, with an overseas manufacturer. All of Mobile’s products are manufactured at the Mobile factory in Toronto, Canada, or designed and engineered by Mobile Industries with joint venture production.
“We’ve witnessed companies going overseas to get their products manufactured, who have been let down with quality design and after market products,” said Guagliano. “We made a decision that we would never take this approach.
“We were the first company to establish a joint venture program, and it was and still is cutting edge. We’re very proud of that.”
Mobile offers a variety of Mobile and Eco products including pallet trucks, mobile stackers, skid lifters, store fixture products and more. Recently, the company launched a self-propelled program, offering self-propelled stackers and electric pallet trucks. Engineers spent a year and a half designing the products, and currently offer the most diversified and most competitively priced line of power equipment, according to Guagliano. Currently, the company supplies more than 50,000 pallet trucks a year, and their product base is continually growing. Mobile will custom-design products to fit any need.
“If a standard product doesn’t fit one of our customer’s needs, we design something for them,” he said, noting that they have done a tremendous amount of design and custom work. “A big part of what we do is come up with innovative solutions for material handling.”
Those at Mobile realize that all companies have different needs. “Our aim is to develop partnerships with everyone we deal with,” said Guagliano. “One dealer needs something different than the next, and we want to provide that.”
Mobile also strives for timely and efficient service and offers same-day shipping from one of its many North American warehouses.
Mobile is working to make their presence known even more around the world. While the central factory is in Toronto, Canada, there are three Mobile warehouses in Europe and three in the United States, and Mobile is looking to open another warehouse/licensing program in Brazil.
Next on the agenda for Mobile? “We are embarking on a program that could likely double our sales in Europe over the next year,” hinted Guagliano.
