Mikitka Named WERC's Chief Executive OfficerWednesday, July 29, 2009
The Board of Directors of the Warehousing Education and Research Council (WERC) has named interim executive director Michael J. Mikitka, CMP, CAE, as Chief Executive Officer of the organization.
"Mikitka came on board as the Director of Conference and has been the principal architect of WERC's world class conference experience for the past eight years. He stepped up to the plate as interim leader of the association and has provided exceptional leadership during a time of transition. He brings association experience, experience with WERC and new ideas and energy. We're looking forward to innovation while continuing to meet member needs," according to Mark Cleveland, Board past president.
"In the 'brief' nine years that I've been with WERC, I've seen the role of warehousing and distribution in the supply chain evolve. These are exciting and challenging times for the industry, and I look forward to ensuring that WERC's products and services remain relevant and practical," says Mikitka.
Before joining WERC, Mikitka was the meeting manager for the Property Loss Research Bureau (PLRB), a trade association of property and casualty insurance companies. In that role he developed learning materials and managed educational programs as well as their annual conference and trade show.
He graduated from Illinois State University with a B.A. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology and holds the prestigious Certified Association Executive (CAE) and Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) designations.View all Industry News
