Make The Call!Thursday, July 1, 2010
I like to listen to country music ... most of the time. The saying fits with the lyrics from country songs: “When the student is ready, the teacher appears.” Often times they are a bit too much, but on some days, those twangers (I mean crooners) are talking to “me.”
Such was the case during a recent 8-hour drive from Tallahassee to Delray Beach, Florida. The song came on. I connected. And you get a new Monday Morning Message.
I’ll spare you the sad story line but the message is worth sharing. You never know when your next kind word, deed or action just might come at the right time for someone in you life.
What may appear as “no big deal” to you might prove to be a “very big deal” to me. Don’t guess. Make the call.
When you think of a friend, loved one, customer or prospect, make the call. When you have some good news to share, make the call. When you just want to confirm some information you already told someone, make the call. Always be looking for valid reasons to make the call.
Notice I did not say “Send The Email.”
But, Mike! Won’t I be bothering people?
What are you asking me for? Ask them. If you are bothering people every time you show a sign of interest and respect, perhaps you are hanging with the wrong set of “peeps.”
That being said, I don’t believe it is a good idea to “kill time” on the phone with anybody these days. As the ole sales mantra reminds us, “Be bright. Be brief. Be gone.” This advice holds true when speaking on the phone as well as it does in a person-to-person sales call.
This week for one week only ... make the call.
Then, and only then, if you see how simple and effective this “best kept secret” is, make it a weekly habit for the rest of your life.
Make The Call!
Somebody is out there waiting to hear from you.
