KSW Microtec to showcase next generationcontactless Thinlaminates at ID WORLD 2008

Monday, November 17, 2008

DRESDEN, GERMANY – KSW Microtec AG, one of the world’s leading suppliers of RFID components, will have a high profile presence at ID WORLD 2008 with the launch of the KSW Thinlam®, a new generation of prelaminates for RFID solutions. A presentation by Sebastian Gallschütz, KSW Business Manager for Access & Security, at the Secure Identification conference on November 18 will complete KSW’s attendance. KSW Microtec is also Signature Sponsor of the Transportation Security Forum at ID WORLD 2008, the annual world summit on automatic identification taking place at the Milanofiori Congress Center in Milan, Italy, on November 18-20, 2008.

The new KSW Thinlam®, with a thickness down to 280µm, enables card manufacturers to produce HF and UHF RFID cards with more layers. Thus, it offers a broad range of new possibilities to integrate more security and other high value features into cards.

Unlike thicker commercially available prelaminates, Thinlam® is manufactured without chip modules – resulting in unmarked card surfaces after printing. Thinlam® maintains the highest durability thanks to its patented chip connection technology. In addition, due to the consistently reproducible antenna geometries, KSW Thinlam® achieves tighter resonance frequency tolerances. The Thinlam® can be manufactured on PVC, Polycarbonate, PET or Teslin® and can also be used for transparent RFID cards thanks to its excellent optical characteristics. The combination of all the above features sets new standards in RFID-based security, performance and design.

Sebastian Gallschütz’s presentation will focus on the emerging trend in the security and access control segment of combining comfort for the user with enhanced functionality. It will take place during the second session of the Secure Identification – Core Technologies for Self-Service conference beginning at 11:30am on November 18.
