Evans' Doug Ostrowski appointed to 2010 Motor Carrier Advisory Board

Monday, February 22, 2010

MELVINDALE, MI — Evans Distribution Systems announced today that Doug Ostrowski, the company’s vice president of transportation, has been reappointed to the Michigan Public Service Commission Motor Carrier Advisory Board for 2010. Ostrowski’s one-year term involves serving as a liaison between the Michigan government and motor carrier industry, and leading vital discussions on regional issues and transportation trends.

“This reappointment is testament to Doug’s motor carrier expertise,” said Evans Distribution President John A. Evans. “He is proactive, understands the state’s unique transportation issues and will lend insight on best practices that will benefit freight transportation vendors, local businesses and the economy as a whole.”

The Michigan Public Service Commission is an agency within the Department of Labor & Economic Growth, responsible for the insurance and safety regulation of the intrastate for-hire trucking industry and the rate and consumer protection regulation of the intrastate household goods moving industry.

The Motor Carrier Advisory Board facilitates a continuing dialogue among the trucking industry, consumers, other interest groups, and state government on issues, problems and solutions important to Michigan freight transportation. The advisory board consists of members representing the transportation industry and the shipping public in addition to ex-officio members of the Michigan departments of State Police, Transportation, Treasury, and Secretary of State, and the U.S. Department of Transportation.

Ostrowski has served in the transportation business for 19 years and is a member of the Transportation Club of Detroit. He resides with his family in South Lyon, Mich.

Evans Distribution Systems, headquartered in Southeast Michigan, was founded in 1929 as the Central Detroit Warehouse Company. It has evolved into a full-service, third-party logistics provider offering warehousing, transportation, contract packaging and staffing to the manufacturing, food and beverage, consumer goods, and chemical industries. Evans currently employs about 250 associates and operates more than 1,800,000 square feet of space in Michigan and Virginia. www.evansdist.com.
