CPI Celebrates 10th Anniversary of Popular Polyurethane Professional Development ProgramWednesday, July 24, 2013
This year, the Polyurethanes Technical Conference celebrates the 10th anniversary of the popular Polyurethane Professional Development Program (PDP), which features an impressive lineup of professional development opportunities taught by premier industry experts. The 2013 conference, hosted by the Center for the Polyurethanes Industry of the American Chemistry Council, will take place Sept. 23 to 25 at the Sheraton Phoenix Downtown Hotel in Phoenix.
“Each year, CPI’s Polyurethanes Technical Conference features unsurpassed educational opportunities for industry professionals,” said Lee Salamone, senior director of CPI. “Throughout the entire PDP, both seasoned polyurethane professionals and those new to the industry have the chance to learn valuable information that can be applied every day in their work.”
The Polyurethane PDP will begin on Sunday, Sept. 22, one day ahead of the official conference opening, and run through Tuesday, Sept. 24. Participants can choose from eight courses, which are taught by subject-matter experts and run concurrently with the technical conference. This year’s courses include:
PU 101: Introduction to Polyurethane Chemistry
PU 102: Introduction to Polyurethane Technology
PU 103: Polyurethane Markets and Applications
PU 104A: Polyurethane Adhesives and Sealants
PU 104B: Polyurethane Coatings and Elastomers
PU 105: Polyurethane Processing Equipment
PU 201: Polyurethane Raw Materials, Testing, Specifications and Performance: The Myth and the Magic
PU 204: Physical Testing of Polyurethane Foams
These courses range from broad, introductory subjects to advanced, specialized topics. Non-technical attendees and industry newcomers may be interested in courses such as PU 102 and PU 103, which provide comprehensive information about polyurethane chemical ingredients, an overview of chemical machinery, polyurethane end-products and the industry’s different markets. Meanwhile, PU 101 offers attendees a greater understanding of polyurethane chemistry itself, and PU 105 provides an overview of the machinery and engineering behind creating polyurethane products. Courses such as PU 104 A and B are designed for professionals who have specific specializations, such as in fields related to coatings, adhesives, sealants and elastomers (CASE). PU 201 and PU 204 feature intermediate and advanced topics. For example, PU 204 covers testing methods for different types of foam products and is geared toward chemical and product manufacturers.
Registration for the 2013 Polyurethanes Technical Conference is now open. Attendees can save $200 by registering by Aug. 30, and must register for the conference in order to participate in the PDP. PDP tuition is a single payment of $150, which includes course materials, whether attending one or more courses.
Participants must register for each PDP course of interest to receive the appropriate training materials and are encouraged to secure their spots early. PDP registration and the complete course schedule are available online. Advanced registration is strongly recommended to secure your space in the PDP.
Several sponsorship opportunities, including table top exhibition space, are still available. For more information on the conference, visit the CPI website.
