Bogue, Inc., Manufacturer of the World’s Only Towable, Drivable, Auto-Leveling Scissor Lift

Saturday, August 1, 2009

By: Samantha Donisi

As far as innovation goes, Bogue, Inc. is at the top of their game. The company specializes in taking market-solid products and making them even more appealing. Updating the traditional scissors lift and finding new uses for imported Mini-Trucks are two of the more unique ways that this South Dakota-based business serves its customers.

Very few companies can claim to have the “World’s Only” anything. PLE Incorporated is one of those elite few. A part of Bogue, Inc, PLE, Inc. is the manufacturer and distributor of the world’s only towable, drivable, auto-leveling scissor lift, a fact that company president and owner Marc Bogue is very proud of.

“We’re a design and engineering company,” Bogue said. “We tend to be very innovative and like to think outside the box. We were told that an auto-leveling system was impossible, that a self-drive system was impossible. But we did it, and we’re very pleased about that.”

The scissors lift replaces the need for portable scaffolding and extension ladders. The deck supports up to 500 lbs and they are towable by any vehicle using a 2” ball hitch. The TP 9000 has a 48” x 64” platform with a 30” rollout deck extension that has a 250 pound capacity.

Options include a hunting blind, up to four mounted lights, motion alarm and an auto-leveling system that won’t allow the lift to rise if it’s not level.

“You can drive it home from the dealer or rental center and drive it into whatever position you need,” Bogue said. “It mitigates the need for a trailer or for tying it down. There is no CDL needed to pull it down the highway.”

The many uses for the scissors lift are varied. It can be used at staged events for lighting and sound support. It can provide easy access to billboards and other signage that needs repair. Tree trimming and high-lighting repair is easy with the TP 9000. “The sky is the limit for what can be done with this piece of equipment,” Bogue said. “We truly think that customers will find it very valuable. It’s easy to use and it’s safe.”

When the federal government contacted Portable Lift, Inc. and requested they put their scissor lifts on mini-trucks for use on military bases, it opened up another avenue for Bogue, Inc.

America’s Mini Truck Center is a direct importer of Japanese 4x4 mini trucks, and they specialize in custom hunting vehicles. An optional feature on the hunting truck is a portable blind that can be raised using the scissors lift. This allows sportsman to find a perfect vantage point from which to locate game, rather than waiting for the perfect deer to wander past a certain tree.

America’s Mini Truck Center has partnered with Japan-based Gaijin Automotive, the largest exporter of Japanese Mini-Trucks.

“We are both a wholesaler and a retailer of Mini Trucks,” Bogue said. “Our trucks usually have industrial applications and are used from the standpoint that they may have 20,000 or so miles on them.”

They have several hundred trucks in stock, can order on request and also supply parts and accessories. The Mini Trucks actually fit inside the short box on a 3/4 ton full size truck, which is handy because they are only road legal in approximately 11 states.

Each vehicle is camouflaged with custom camowrap and can be outfitted with a specialized scissors lift for use as an elevated hunting blind. Options include snow plows, extended cabs, and even track kits for the real off-roader.

Bogue said he felt the market for Mini Trucks was growing and would continue to increase as the economy bounces back. They are currently accepting new dealers.
