Ame’s January & February Midwest Region Events in Illinois

Tuesday, December 9, 2008

LOMBARD and ELK GROVE, IL — This winter, the Association for Manufacturing Excellence offers two key opportunities to get up-close-and-personal with Lean practices in the Midwest Region. For executives wanting to benefit from both educational and entertaining presentations in Illinois this January and February, now is the time to mark their calendars:

Tuesday, January 20, 2008 from 5:15 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Second Annual Midwest Region “Open Mic Night” Networking Event
Lombard, IL

If anyone is expecting a band or back-up singers for AME’s Midwest Region “Open Mic Night” they would be pleasantly surprised that Lean practitioners put on quite a show “a cappella”. When Lean business people get on a roll sharing their own Lean success stories with continuous improvement, it’s not only informative and entertaining — it also provides participants with an invaluable trunk- load of 20-30 or more ideas from others who take the stage right alongside them. Now in its second successful year, this event has proved both popular and beneficial to those looking to connect with others on the Lean journey and build their benchmarking network. Forget philosophical; AME’s “Open Mic Night” provides show-stopping, take-away strategies that executives can put into action right now in their own facilities. Participants should bring a flash drive with two continuous improvement examples or hard copies of the same and share their best practices within a five-minute time frame, whether from a visual factory/office, a Kaizen blitz, annual review or more. Lean practitioners can either “jam” on stage or listen from the audience for this unique and lively presentation of Lean. Attendance is limited; advance registration highly recommended. Location: Weber Grill Restaurant, 2331 Fountain Square Drive in Lombard.  Advance registration recommended. Visit www.ame.org for more information on speakers, event logistics/cancellation policy.

Thursday, February 19 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Friday, February 20 from 8 a.m. to 12 noon
Lean IT Workshop with Jean Cunningham
Elk Grove, Il

For business execs ready to apply Lean outside of manufacturing and modify the internal system to support instead of drag down operations flow, this Lean IT workshop is their first step toward Lean transformation. If an IT system has a choke hold on the company’s Lean journey simply because the internal systems are hampered by outdated processes linked to the old batch and queue, this workshop with renowned Lean expert Jean Cunningham will help jump-start the transition to Lean. Cunningham shares her own experience as CFO and leader of IT for Lantech and Marshfield Door Systems in a presentation designed to benefit CIO & CFO’s, Information Application Analysts, Accounting Managers, Cost Accountants, Purchasing Management Planners and Lean leaders in manufacturing companies. Location: Holiday Inn-Elk Grove, 1000 Busse Road in Elk Grove Village.  Advance registration recommended. Visit www.ame.org for more information on speakers, event logistics/cancellation policy.
