James (Jim) J. Radous III, president of UniCarriers Americas Corporation (UCA), was announced the winner of the MHI 2018 Mentor Award during MODEX in Atlanta. The award was presented at the MHI Industry Night event on April 11.
According to MHI, the Mentor Award celebrates a member each year who offers professional guidance, exhibits positivity and inspiration, instills and nurtures talents, advocates for employees and supports their professional development and possesses a commitment to the company and its people.

“Jim is one of those rare leaders who works with everyone to identify their ambitions and supports their efforts to achieve them,” said Brian Markison, senior director of sales and marketing for UniCarriers Americas. “At UniCarriers, Jim continuously provides me with practical and strategical advice on countless issues and presents opportunities to grow in my career. On a regular basis, he provides professional guidance to all employees at UniCarriers, setting them up for success.”
Twenty award submissions were sent in by peers, colleagues and industry professionals for the Mentor Award. Radous was selected based on his deep involvement and mentorship within his company and the community. After narrowing down to the final contenders, the selection committee said what really stood out was Radous’ involvement with the business students at Roosevelt University. Radous received his MBA from Roosevelt, and actively mentors and guides students, assisting them with their schoolwork, networking skills and resume preparation. Radous also offers students internships at UniCarriers to help accelerate their careers.
“This award serves as a testament of Jim’s outstanding business leadership and his valuable contribution to our students,” said Asghar Sabbaghi, dean of the Heller College of Business, Roosevelt University. “I can’t say enough about how our students have benefitted from his devoted service.”
“To be selected as the MHI Mentor Award winner is a tremendous honor and one I’ll cherish for years to come,” said James J. Radous III. “I always hope that my efforts make a significant impact in others’ personal and professional development that will allow us to leave things better for the next generation.”View all Industry News
