Premier Freight Management Corporation ownership changes handsTuesday, October 11, 2016
Premier Freight Management Corporation, a West-Michigan based shipping, logistics and warehousing company, today announced 50 percent of the company has been acquired by Jonathan Laning and Kyle Walcott, sons of founding partners, Doug Walcott and Mark Laning. The transaction comes following the retirement of the elder Laning, who will receive a buyout by the sons of his shares.
As of October 1, when the deal officially closed, Jonathan and Kyle each now own 25 percent shares of Premier Freight Management Corporation and its subsidiaries, including Premier Freight, Premier Freight Systems and Premier Asset Leasing. Doug Walcott will continue as the company’s CEO and plans to stay with the company for the foreseeable future.
Premier Freight specializes in full-service logistics, with an emphasis on transporting large, complex and unique items for manufacturers throughout the United States. The company is renowned in the transportation and supply chain industry for its attention to detail and customer service. Jonathan and Kyle have cumulatively spent 19 years learning the business, from operations to sales, and how to carry on these traditions, while innovating and incorporating new best practices.
“The driving force behind Premier Freight is our laser-focus on the customers’ needs. Mark worked tirelessly to add value, exceed their needs and provide unmatched quality, and we know our sons will do the same,” said Doug Walcott, CEO of Premier Freight. “Kyle and Jonathan have watched Premier Freight grow, and they will do great things to move the company forward.”
Premier Freight is growing quickly. With an expanding customer base in both transportation and warehousing, the company recently completed a long-term lease of 75,000 sq. ft. warehousing space at Holland’s Federal Square Business Park. Distinct among logistics providers, Premier Freight offers premium, “One-Touch” service, a supply chain program that spans all aspects of the fulfillment process from transportation, to warehousing, to customer acceptance.
“Today’s logistics market is as competitive as when Doug and I started the company, and more change in the industry is on its way,” said Mark Laning. “Now more than ever, customers want smarter services paired with and an exceptional level of personal service, that is what has differentiated Premier, and it is exactly what Jonathan and Kyle will continue.”
Walcott and Laning started Premier Freight with their first delivery 14 years ago, having already had 25 years of experience in logistics management. They created Premier Freight to be a different kind of 3PL: the trusted partner for businesses, to make supply chains the most competitive aspect of a business, and to exceed the needs of every customer – every single time.View all Industry News
