New brand to lead global uptake of crane camera systems

Friday, August 7, 2015

Compact Lifting Group will offer its wireless crane camera system expertise to a global audience through a new product that delivers live video from the hook block to the operator in the cabin—BlokCam.

BlokCam Limited—a division of Compact Lifting Group, a distributor of lifting and safety systems throughout Europe, North America and the Middle East—will provide camera systems available in four versions, including one for explosive environments.
Three models will be targeted at the construction market, while the ATEX Ex rated system is tailored to the requirements of Zone 1 explosive environments, particularly in the offshore and petrochemical industries.

Features of all models include extended wireless transmission range; high definition viewing; a recording facility; 4G dial in remote viewing via a desktop and mobile app; plus extended battery life. Full model specifications and pricing is available upon request.
Peter Hird Jr., CEO, Compact Lifting Group, said: “We have learnt a tremendous amount from supplying camera systems into the market and the new commercial vehicle—BlokCam—is based on four years of research and development into a solution that can take crane camera systems to the next level.”

He added: “The name reflects the location of the camera system, which fits on the hook block of the crane. With the increased number of models available and the enhancements that have been made to the technology, it is important that we serve the crane camera market through a strong, exciting new brand and we think we have achieved that with BlokCam.”

Compact Lifting was recently in the headlines, claiming the London Health & Safety Award for the HookCam Europe camera system at the London Construction Awards, organised by the London Build Expo.

BlokCam will support all existing HookCam models that have been purchased including the maintenance of installed equipment, whilst honouring existing warranty periods. Companies that have recently placed orders will be able to receive products from the new range.

Ben Windass, the co-owner and managing director of Compact Lifting Group, said: “Tower crane manufacturers, rental companies and contractors are increasingly embracing crane camera technology to enhance safety and efficiency on their job sites. The BlokCam product incorporates additional features that have been designed based on feedback we’ve received from the marketplace having pioneered this increased uptake.”
He added: “We are extremely proud to present to the market state-of-the-art, modular systems that give us a competitive edge in today’s increasingly innovation and technology-driven lifting equipment industry.”

Compact Lifting Group is currently seeking worldwide distributors of the BlokCam product, which is underscored by the tagline “eyes where you need them.”
