How do you find out how much a forklift can lift?
Is it the mass x something?
by osha standards all forklifts are required to have an id tag somewhere in the operators area. another way to tell is many times the model is a number, like say for example the manufacturer is hyster, and its a model 45, the 45 means its a 4500 lb capacity. this may not work for all. the best way is to find the ID tag on it which should tell you.
There is a tag/s several places. One is on the mast. Another is or should be visible to the operator when they are at the controls.
If there is a conflict go with the lower limit.
This is the rating with the load all the way back to the mast and not on the tip of the forks or what ever the lifting device is.
