Tompkins International Forecasts Aggressive Growth in 3PL Market: Tompkins International experts recently reviewed the 3PL industry for 2013 and agree that it is growing at a faster rate than gross domestic product (GDP). However, Tompkins anticipates more aggressive growth than the 6 percent cited by other sources. “Global GDP is expected to expand by 2.2% and less than 2% in the U.S.,” says Valerie Bonebrake, Senior Vice President, Tompkins International. “Tompkins believes 3PL growth will be three to four times GDP, or 7 to 10 percent for 2013.” What is driving this growth? Am I The Only Lazy Slug Out There?: My phone rang last night. The display on the base of the phone read “Unidentified Caller.” I don’t usually answer the phone when I see this displayed … but last evening I did. The person asked for Mike Marchev. I said, “Speaking.” She then attempted to interest me in her Energy Company or Service. Being that it was dinner time, I politely interrupted her in the middle of her script and in a calm voice informed her that, “I am not in the market for a new Energy Company and in fact, you have called before and have told you the same thing.” I then bid her a sincere good-bye and gently hung up the phone.
